Everything you need to know before starting

Do I have to start with Tier 1?

You can begin with Tier 1 or move directly into Tier 2. Tier 2 includes the audit and configuration work as its foundation, so no work is duplicated. Many clients choose Tier 1 first to clarify direction before committing to a full design package.

What is the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2?

Tier 1 provides a safety and layout focused audit with a proposed alternative configuration and contractor ready guidance. Tier 2 builds on that foundation and delivers a fully developed design including renderings, material and fixture specifications, dimensioned plans, and a structured revision round.

Do you manage construction?

No. Remsen provides design & planning services only. We do not perform construction, project management, or site supervision. You select and contract directly with your builder.

Can my contractor use your drawings?

Yes. All Tier 1 and Tier 2 deliverables are prepared to support contractor pricing and execution. Tier 2 includes contractor ready plans and elevations along with a 45 minute Q and A call to review the design intent.

What does the site survey include?

We conduct a complimentary site visit and digital scan to document existing conditions and capture accurate dimensions. This ensures the design is grounded in precise measurements.

What if I want changes to the design?

Tier 2 includes one structured revision round to refine and align the proposed design. Additional revisions can be accommodated as a separate service if needed.

Can I skip the audit and go straight to finishes and renderings?

The audit and configuration work is the foundation of every project. Even when starting with Tier 2, we begin by evaluating safety, layout, lighting, and ergonomics before developing the full design.

How long does the process take?

Tier 1 is typically delivered within 1 to 2 weeks following the site survey. Tier 2 timelines depend on scope and revision timing, but are generally completed within 2 to 4 weeks.

How is this different from hiring a remodeler?

Remodelers focus on the building aspect only. We focus on design and aging informed planning with construction in mind. Our role is to provide an independent, contractor-ready design plan so you can renovate with clarity and confidence.

Is this service right if I am not renovating immediately?

Yes. Many clients use the audit and design package to plan ahead, evaluate feasibility, and make informed decisions before beginning construction.

What is not included in this service?

This service does not include construction management or site supervision, permit/code compliance review, engineering/structural analysis, contractor selection or pricing, or product purchasing/procurement.

What should I understand about scope and responsibility?

All drawings are intended to support planning and informed conversations; actual implementation may vary based on field conditions and local requirements, and REMSEN is not responsible for construction means, methods, sequencing, or execution.
